In 2021 several Nigerian, African and International singers joined forced to deliver earth-chattering collaborations, and it a must for them to be recognized.

On October 5, 2021, it was reported that ‘Essence,’ Wizkid and Tems’ summer banger has been certified platinum in the US. It also becomes the first African song to hit that milestone.

Expressing his gratitude to Tems for making it possible, Wizkid said;

1.“PERU”

Peru was hands down the most addictive song of 2021. An obvious freestyle from YBNL powerhouse, FireboyDML. This song will continue to do massive numbers in 2022 and is definitely headed for a billboard entry with its smash remake with British singer, Ed Sheeran. 2. “Zazoo Zehh!!!”

PocoLee X Portable X Olamide gave the entire country and industry a Christmas hit that no one will ever forget. Big year for Poco Lee, Massive year for Portable. Olamide showed love and even the audiences cannot get enough of it.

This song didn’t make the list because it release didn’t fall in our year of review (Dec. ’20 -Nov. ’21) but it is worthy of a mention.

3. “Essence” – Wizkid feat. Tems

Essence sits high up on the list of collaborations of 2021. Its impact on the African/Black music culture is undeniable and its unprecedented feat of cracking the Billboard Hot 200,100, & 10 consecutively is mindblowing. Huge shout out to Wizkid & Tems for this phenomenal record.

10. “Holy Father” – Mayorkun feat. Victony
