The Super Eagles joy grew stronger on Wednesday following the visit of the President of Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Melvin Pinnick, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, who went to unveil the cash gifts and promises awaiting them for their outstanding performance so far in the ongoing 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The NFF President addressed the players on the intention of the CACOVID towards the Nigerian players and he revealed that the CACOVID which is a Coalition team is a private sector-led organization established in Nigeria to help tackle the Corona Virus disease from Nigeria, stating that the team is ready to put all efforts they used to combat covid 19 into the football to aid growth in the country.
Pinnick appreciated the effort of all the footballers and urged them to keep up with the good work for Nigerians to be happy, he then welcomed the CBN governor for his speech.
Emefiele appreciates their commitment to moving the country to glory and stated;
“On behalf of the CACOVID which is led by Alhaji Aliko Dangote and me, I have been asked to come in again today by the minister, CACOVID, as well as Aliko Dangote. During the first meeting I had with the team captain and the coach, I deliver a message from CACOVID. The message said that for every goal that is scored, the team will receive a Naira equivalent of Twenty Thousand Dollars.
CACOVID also asked me to tell you that by the time you move to the 16 round, you will earn for yourself a naira equivalent of Fifty Thousand Dollars for every winning goal…
Femi Otedola himself who is also a member of CACOVID has asked me to tell you that if you lift the trophy, he has in the bank for you naira equivalent of Two Hundred and Fifty Dollars.”
The CBN governor urged them to be rest assured that many more awards are coming their way and stated that the government of Nigeria is ready to cater for the youth of the country because they are the leaders of tomorrow.
